Weezer - Paranoid Android (Radiohead Cover)

I have always respected Weezer.

One of my first album purchases was Weezer’s self-titled album (aka the Green Album), and in my opinion it definitely was one of their best as well as one of the first CD’s in a long list of CD’s in my collection that would become stolen/misplaced. Weezer was what I blasted from my very first car on the very first day I rented it for free from my parents.

Recently it seems that Weezer has become a lot more mainstream. Their songs are more pop-oriented, less experimental, and Rivers is actually embracing his pop culture popularity. Their past two albums have been alright, but they were nothing to talk about, paling in comparison to something like Pinkerton.

I’m still not sure how I feel about this cover, but it speaks more to their, Weezer’s, roots. Being originally a Radiohead song, it has that relaxed (dare I say stoner) feel. However Weezer injected a heavier sound while at the same time keeping that sleepy pace. Much like a large, beautiful robot that is running out of fuel but still struggling to march along.

I doubt this makes much sense. I think I need to listen to it again.
